INSULTING REMARKS ON VOTING PAPER
POLICE TO INVESTIGATE (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, October 22. A man who took his politics so seriously on election day that he succumbed to the temptation to write insulting remarks about one of the candidates on his voting paper may regret this indiscretion. Such an action is an offence under the Electoral .Act and the returning officer for Christchurch East has handed the case on for investigation. The remark on the voting paper was about the National candidate in this electorate (Mr K. Armour), and was couched in most uncomplimentary language. Inaddition to the charge under the Act which may be brought against this elector he also invalidated his vote by allowing his feelings to run away with him. There were 34 apparent cases of dual voting but in 30 of them there was no intention to commit an offence. The other four cases are being investigated by the police.
