WEDDING

LINDSAY—WHYTE The wedding took place at Chalmers church, Timaru, of Mabie Doreen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Whyte, Burke’s Pass, and Arthur Wyndham (Dick), youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Lindsay, North street, Timaru, and formerly of Wyndham. The Rev. J. Baird performed the ceremony, and Mr J. Fraser was organist The church was decorated with spring flowers by friends of the bride.

The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, M. A. Mcllwraith, wore a gown

of deep cream satin. It was cut on slim lines, the bodice being gathered into a raised waist line in front, with a point at the neck. The sleeves, shirred at the shoulders, were tight-fitting with a row of small satin buttons. The back, from neck to waist, was finished with buttons and loops, and the skirt, panelled in front, was cut on the cross at the back to form a long train. A satin

belt with a brilliant buckle at the back, completed her frock. A coronet of orange blossom held her embroidered tulle veil in place, and a double string of pearls, a friend’s gift, was also worn. Her shower bouquet was of cream hyacinths, freesias and fem. The bride was attended by her two sisters, Misses Maisie and Edna Whyte, as bridesmaids. They wore frocks of powder blue georgette over satin. The bodices were gathered into a square neckline in front, and the sleeves were puffed at the shoulder. The skirts were fully flared and fell into short trains. Small buttons on the sleeves and a long row down the back, with silver girdles at the waist finished the frocks. They wore circlets of blue and pink roses with silver leaves, and carried bouquets of blue hyacinths and freesias. Doris Guinnessy, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Her frock was of pink georgette over satin. It had snort puffed sleeves and a smocked waist, and the skirt was edged with three small frills. She wore a pink and blue circlet, and her posy was of pink sweet peas. Mr H. Button was best man and Mr L. Dockrill was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs W. Whyte and J. Davie. The reception was held at the Bay tea roooms where Mrs Whyte and Mrs Lindsay received the guests. The bride’s mother wore a brown pinstripe costume with a champagnecoloured blouse, a brown straw hat and a fur stole. The bridegroom’s mother wore a fur coat over a nigger brown pebble satin frock relieved with lemon. Her brown straw hat was finished with an eye veil. Each carried a posy of spring flowers. The bride travelled in a London tan tailored costume with an apricot satin blouse. Her small toque was trimmed with, an eye veil, and she wore a fur stole. She carried a brown musquash coat the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs A. W. Lindsay’s future home will be in York street, Timaru.
