CHRISTMAS ISSUE

“N.Z. ILLUSTRATED” IS FINE PRODUCTION New. Zealand Illustrated, the Christmas number of The Press, Christchurch, has a host of pictures that will be of interest to New Zealand and overseas readers. The choice of scenes is a wide one, ranging from peaceful pastoral views to glimpses of stormy coasts and snow-capped mountains. There are two splendid views of the cities of Auckland and Christchurch, and the beauty spots of both islands are convincingly depicted. The pleasure resorts are not neglected, two of Wellingtoh”s popular beaches being prominently featured. Of special interest is an article on whaling in Lyttelton in the early days. The front cover is a coloured scene of the Aratiata rapids and the back has the amusing fun map of New Zealand. The presentation plate in colour shows a Maori war canoe on the Waikato river in which Lord and Lady XJalway are passengers. This is an ideal magazine for sending overseas. #
