FINAL DAY AT RICCARTON

Strip’s Chances Again Favoured ERINATION TO START IN HURDLES (Special to The Times) CHRISTCHURCH, August 12. Fine weather prevailed in Christchurch today and there was every indication this evening for another fine day tomorrow when the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand National meeting will be concluded. The course has dried up considerably and the going should be much firmer than on the two previous days. The principal event will be the Lincoln 'Steeplechase, which has a field of eight, including last year’s winner,

Forest Glow, and Erination, who is also in the Sydenham Hurdles. It was understood today that Erination was to start in the latter event. The principal flat event, the Heathcote Handicap, has drawn a big field and over half of the number must be seriously considered. Valantua will be ridden by L. J. Ellis, who has gone off Willie Win to take the mount. The following horses should race well during the afternoon. AYLESBURY HACK STEEPLECHASE.—GoId Wren, Nightbound, Uncle Jim. LONGBEACH HANDICAP.—Strip, Lady Leigh, Rebellion. SYDENHAM HURDLES.—Fireguard, Erination, Pango. STYX HURDLES.—Lone Raider, Sunny Comet, Curie. HEATHCOTE HANDICAP.—Valantua, Ponty, Liane. LINCOLN STEEPLECHASE.—Bryce Street, Valpeen, Forest Glow. REDCLIFFS HANDICAP.—HaIf and Half, Second Innings, Tidewaiter. SELWYN HANDICAP.—Land Raid, Alma, Cocksure.
