ANGLO- AMERICAN TRADE TREATY
PRAISE BESTOWED BY SIR EARLE PAGE OFFER OF BARGAIN WITH UNITED STATES (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received August 12, 9.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 11. The Australian Minister of Commerce (Sir Earle Page) said Australia placed great faith in the Anglo-American trade treaty as a stimulation to world trade, thereby helping Australia. He added that Australia was willing to relinquish some concessions on the British market provided it received a share of the trade stimulus and direct concessions for Australian goods in the United States. , Sir Earle Page declined to name the concessions Australia was willing to relinquish in the British market. He conferred later with Mr H. A. Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture, on how the major producing nations could co-operate to sustain prices and increase consumption. Sir Earle quoted the British beef and fruits markets as good examples.
