LINKING OPOTIKI WITH AUCKLAND

RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. The Government is expected to announce a decision shortly .to proceed with the construction of the railway line from Taneatua to Opotiki, thereby linking up the latter town with Auckland. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) said today it was one of the promises made by the Government at the- election, and it would be carried out. It would probably be necessary to have a resurvey of the route made before the work started.
