PROHIBITION IN INDIAN PROVINCES

INTRODUCTION OF FURTHER MEASURES EXPECTED

LUCKNOW, December 9.

Two million more Indians “will go dry” as the result of the total prohibition which is being enforced in six United Province districts as an experimental measure. Steps in the direction of a dry India as visualized by Mahatma Ghandi have already been taken in Ahmedabad where no liquor will be sold to Indians after April 1, 1938. Prohibition is also being enforced in the Salem district of the Madras Presidency. It is expected that similar measures will gradually be introduced elsewhere.
