DIPTON

CHILDREN’S PARTY The members of the Dipton Women’s Institute held their annual children’s party in the domain grounds. There was a big attendance of children and adults. Following are the results of races:— Girls (5-7): Noeline Calder 1, Noeline Giles 2, Coral Lindsay 3. Boys (5-7): Douglas Snow 1, Donald Wilson 2, Bertie Lake 3. Girls (8-10): Gwen Goble 1, Dorothy Goble 2, Valerie Adam 3. Boys (8-10): Raymond English 1, Earnie Snow 2, S. Shuttleworth 3. Tiny Tots: James Mitchell 1, Norma Adam 2, Robin Stewart 3. Girls (11 and over): Daphne Taylor 1, Mary Ewen 2, Joyce Palmer 3. Boys (11-and over): Gordon McDonald 1, Bruce Sinclair 2, Ross Lindsay 3. Mothers’ race: Mrs G. P. Martin 1, Mrs P. Giles 2, Mrs L. Whitaker 3. Men’s race: Douglas Stewart 1, David Shand 2, Harry Sparks 3. After- a picnic tea had been served Santa Claus arrived in a decorated motor-car and distributed toys and sweets to the children. The president of the Women’s Institute, Mrs L. Whitaker, returned thanks on behalf of members to those who had assisted in the party.
