Riverton Centenary Celebrations 1837-1937 SOUTHLAND AND THE REST OF NEW ZEALAND are invited to co-operate ivith RIVERTON in suitably and joyfully celebrating the totvns lOQth birthday. A comprehensive Programme has been' drawn up to suitably commemorate the occasion andthe opening event will be on the 26th DECEMBER, 1937 when a Memorial to Captain Howell, the founder of the town will be unveiled. The festivities will extend to the Bth JANUARY, 1938 HIGHLIGHTS: REGATTA, GRAND PROCESSION, BANQUET, SPORTS MEETING, LANDING OF CAPTAIN HOWELL, MAORI DAY, VENETIAN NIGHT, OLD IDENTITIES’ DAY, PICTURES. FLOWER SHOW, ARTS AND CRAFTS EXHIBITION, OLD TIME DANCE, OLD TIMERS’ CONCERT, CENTENARY EXHIBITION, AMUSEMENT PARK. RECREATION FOR YOUNG AND OLD. As seating accommodation at the Banquet is limited, intending patrons are invited to reserve their seats by 20th December. Visitors by applying before the 12th December can be accommodated either at the Motor Camp or at other convenient sites where tents have been erected and furnished with stretchers and mattresses. The rent for these is 25/- per week for tents with 2 stretchers and 27/6 per week for tents with 3 stretchers. PROGRAMMES 1/-, BADGES 2/-, and CENTENARY BOOKS 4/6, can be obtained from Noble’s Book Shop, Dee Street, Invercargill; Whitcombe and Tombs Ltd., Dunedin; and Riverton Booksellers and Stationers.SPECIAL CONCESSION TICKETS upon production of certificate will be issued by the N.Z.
