Bedstead Portholes.
Portholes in the head board of a bed, through which gleams the light that is a substitute for a bedside lamp, are an ingenious notion. They are one of the original features of a bedroom suite that is on view in the British Pavilion at the great Paris Exhibition. Novel Dining Table. Something else that is new in furniture design is a dining-table that would be an asset to a room that serves both as dining room and living room. Two flaps can be raised from a narrow trolley, only about a foot wide, but supplied with drawers for cutlery and table napery. With both flaps down, it stands against the wall taking up no more space than a shelf, and with both flaps up, it affords seating accommodation for eight people.
