OCCUPANTS OF AIR LINER ALL DEAD

BODIES FOUND BY SEARCH PARTY NEW YORK, October 19. Searchers found the 19 occupants of the wrecked air liner in Utah dead. Eighteen of the bodies had been hurled from behind the pilot’s cockpit and scattered 100 ft from the plane. A physician whose niece was a passenger and an expectant mother vainly joined the expedition in the hope that even if she were dead he would be able to perform a Caesarian operation and deliver the child. This is the worst accident in the history of United States aviation. The air liner crashed in the Utah mountains, in territory accessible only on horseback. It was completely smashed up on the side of a steep wooded mountain.

The mishap occurred at 10,000 ft, the plane apparently crashing through the trees. The opinion is expressed that it would have cleared the ridge if it had been flying 100 ft higher.
