DOMINION TRADING BANKS

STATE CONTROL NOT YET CONSIDERED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 20. A definite statement that the Government has not yet considered the question of taking over the trading banks of the Dominion was made by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) in ministerial replies to members’ questions which were circulated in the House of Representatives today. The question had been raised by Mr H. S. S. Kyle (Nat., Riccarton), who had asked when the Government would make public its decision to take over the trading banks and whether the banks would be given sufficient time to make representations to the Government about the winding up of their New Zealand business. “This matter has not been considered by the Government,” the Prime Minister replied.
