GENERAL NOTES ■ The Canterbury Shipping Company s motor-vessel Gale finished working yesterday and sailed in the late afternoon for Dunedin. , , It was expected that the motor-vessel Tamatea would leave Milford last b'Sht, weather permitting, to return to Bluff. Two of the Union Steam Ship Company s vessels are expected tomorrow, the Omana from Dunedin and the Waitaki from We - lington. They leave for Adelaide and Melbourne respectively the same day. The Union Steam Ship Company has received advice that the Rangitata expects to arrive at Wellington at 4 p.m. on July 28 at the earliest. On her first voyage to New Zealand the Federal Line’s new motor-ship Essex is now expected at Dunedin about August 2. . The departure of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitiki from Wellington for London on July 31 has now been postponed until August 3. The cable ship Recorder, which returned to Sydney recently after laying a new tele r phone cable across Cook Strait, is to go back to her base at Singapore, after taking on stores and bunkers. H. L. Tapley and Company advise that the Larchbank is to leave Nauru Island about July 29 for Lyttelton with a cargo of phosphate. She is due there about August 9.
