HOUSE OF COMMONS NOT ON FIRE

BRIGADE ANSWERS FALSE ALARM

(Received June 17, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 16.

Members of the House of Commons were discussing the Factories Bill when they were startled by the sound of fire bells. Two fire engines, a fire escape, and a water tower dashed into the palace yard but found there was no fire.

Some one, presumably a practical joker, had rung up a brigade stating that the House of Commons was on fire.
