AIR LINER’S S.O.S.

TRANSATLANTIC FLYER SAFE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Madrid, February 14. The mystery of the call for help from an air liner has been cleared up. A Lufthansa machine engaged in an experimental _ transatlantic flight sent out a call during a violent storm, but reached the Azores unaided. The Admiralty stated early on Thursday morning that the aircraft carrier Furious was travelling at full speed from the Canary Islands to rescue an air liner which was then unidentified. The liner, with 30 passengers, was reported to have dived into the sea off Punta Delgada, in the Azores.
