VICE-REGAL. His Excellency the Governor-Genera! arrived at Tauranga by the express on Saturday afternoon. He was joined by Lady Galway who returned from the Mayor Island fishing grounds in the afternoon. Their Excellencies were met by the Mayor at a large gathering of citizens. They had afternoon tea and then left after an hour’s stay for Taneatua, where a week will be spent fishing in nearby rivers.—Press Association message. Mr H. K. Bullock, Judge’s associate, will arrive by the mid-day train today. 1 Mr W. H. Walton, of Timaru, arrived in Invercargill by the mid-day express on Saturday. The Hon. Mr Justice Kennedy will arrive by the mid-day train to-day to preside over the Supreme Court which commences to-morrow. Mr W. F. Morrison has arrived in Invercargill from the north and taken over his position as manager for Messrs H S. Young, Ltd., Esk street Superintendent A. Cameron, of Dunedin, who is in charge of the Southland Police District during the absence on holiday of Inspector T. Gibson, arrived in Invercargill by the mid-day express on Saturday. Guests registered at the Grand Hotel over the week-end were: Messrs C. J. Pugsley (Wellington), H. Hunter (Dunedin), B. G. Bell (Christchurch), A. E. Gladstone (Newcastle, N.S.W.), G. W. Davidson (Wellington), Fitzhugh Green (New York), W. H. Walton (Timaru) and J. Maconia (Dunedin). Mr A. E. N. Smith, who is shortly leaving Invercargill to take up residence in Auckland, was farewelled by members of the Northend Bowling Club at a gathering in the social room of the club on Saturday afternoon. Mr A. Cutt (vice-president), in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr T. Bath, expressed regret at the departure of Mr Smith, who had been a keen and valued member of the club for the past five years, and extended to him the best wishes of his clubmates.
