Wedding

HAIGH—TRAIL. A wedding of considerable interest to residents of Riverton, and surrounding districts was solemnized at the Riverton Methodist Church, by the Rev. Wesley Parker, at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday,. June 5, when Vera Constance, second eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. J. Trail, The Highlands, Riverton, was married to Clifford, only son of Mr and Mrs J. R. Haigh, of Waipango. To the strains of the wedding march played by Mrs Wesley Parker, . the bride entered the church on the arm of her father. She was dressed in a gown of ivory crepe Latin beaute inlet with silver lame arid the embroidered circular veil was held in place with clusters of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of white daisies and chrysanthemums and maiden hair, fern.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Gwen Trail, who wore a gown of powder blue loop weave crepe and a head band to match in blue and silver. She wore silver shoes with stockings to match, and carried a shower bouquet of pink daisies, myrtle and maiden hair fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr W. D. Foley. After the ceremony a reception was held in the school room. The bride’s mother, wearing a black gold flecked ring velvet frock with inlet black lace sleeves, with black velour hat to match and carrying a bouquet of lemon and bronze chrysanthemums, received the guests. She was assisted by Mrs Haigh, who wore black ring velvet relieved with white and a black model hat to match. She carried a bouquet of lavender and white chrysanthemums. During the reception Mr R. Kingsland sang several songs and items were given by Mr Haigh. For travelling the bride wore a blue frock trimmed with white buttons under a brown coat with hat, shoes and stockings to match. Mr and Mrs Haigh’s future home will be at Hilltop, Waipango. The bride prior to her marriage was entertained by the residents of Otaitai Bush and surrounding districts and was presented with a beautiful inscribed clock, and by the basketball girls of Riverton when she was presented with a bronze tray and vase.
