WOOL POSITION

CHEERFUL OUTLOOK IMPORTANT REVIEW NATION’S MILLS BUSY (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) ■ , London, June 2. The Financial News, in the course of an important review of the wool position, points to a cheerful outlook. It says that the German mills are working at capacity turning out uniforms and stocks are very low and must shortly be replenished. Cash purchases are likely to be increased in the near future.

Japan is similarly placed and must need wool as, despite the increased exports of woollen goods, she imported 50,000 fewer bales than last year. Russian textile production actually exceeded her plan estimates for the first time. Her purchases of raw material in London in January of 1935 amounted to £506,000 compared with £182,000 during the whole of 1934. French purchases also improved. The only large importer not showing signs of increasing her purchases is Italy.
