CREW TROUBLE
VESSEL HELD UP.
STOKERS ABSENT.
(Per United Press Association.)
Auckland, June 3
The departure of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Darwin for Wanganui was delayed for over three hours this evening owing to crew trouble. The vessel was scheduled to depart at five o’clock, but at sailing time three of the stokehold staff were not on board. Seeing mooring lines being cast off, the remainder of the stokers, 13 men came on shore in order to prevent the vessel going to sea without the absentees. As soon as the unmooring operations were completed the Port Darwin was taken to anchorage in the stream. Later two of the missing men returned with the rest of the stokers and were placed aboard. The Port Darwin departed at about 8.35 o’clock. The man who was left behind will have to pay his own way to Wanganui if he wishes to rejoin his vessel before she leaves that port for England about Friday.
