GENERAL NOTES. With four vessels working. Bluff wharf presented a busy scene yesterday and a large number of men were . engaged in waterfront work. ... The Union Company s intercolonial steamer Waikouaitl, which arrived from Sydney early on Sunday morning, yesterday worked general cargo and was expected to complete last night and sail for Dunedin early this morning. The Canadian Government steamer AngloCanadian reached Bluff yesterday morning from Lyttelton. She is loading wool and sails on completion at Bluff for Port Chalmers, Timaru. and Wellington. She is expected to finish and sail this afternoon. The Fordsdale, which left London on January 17 for New Zealand via Panama and Suva, is due at Port Chalmers on February 28. After discharge of cargo the vessel proceeds to Lyttelton, thence to Napier to complete unloading. The Fordsdale’s loading itinerary is not yet available, but the vessel is time-tabled to sail from the dominion on March 31, and is due at London on May 5. . . . , The Melbourne Maru was despatched from Moji, Japan, on February 1 for Auckland via Australian ports and Wellington. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on March 11. The Kent cleared Curacao on the morning of February 10. She left Auckland on January 15 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow via the Panama Canal. „ The. New Zealand Shipping Company s steamer Hurunul, which replaced the Tekoa on the West Coast of England was scheduled to leave Liverpool on Saturday for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland about March 27. Cabled advice has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Auckland, en route from New York to Auckland, Wellington,Lyttelton, and Dunedin, cleared Balboa on the morning of February 8. She Is due at Auckland on March 1. . , ~ . The Federal Company has received cabled advice that the Turakina, en route from Liverpool to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, cleared Curacao on February 9. She is due at Auckland on March 7. / ’ ■ Having completed her Homeward loading, the Shaw, Savill Steamer Mamarl left Wanganui roadstead on February 9 for London. Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow via the Panama Canal. . , „ Canadian National Steamships (Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co., local agents) have recelvea cabled advice that the Canadian Victor left Halifax on February 5 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, in place of the Canadian Challenger, which is now proceeding to Australian ports and Auckland. The Canadian Victor Is due at Auckland on March 13. „ , . T ~ , The Mataroa, which sailed from Lyttelton on January 5 for Southampton and London via Panama, arrived at Southampton on the afternoon of February 8. The Port Campbell, which sailed from Lyttelton on December 26 for London via Sape Horn and Montevideo, arrived at the Home port on February 10. The Port Curtis left Newcastle-on-Tyne on February 10 in ballast to load at New Zealand ports. She Is due at her first loading port on April 1. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr H. W. Insley has joined the Kartigl as second engineer after holiday leave. Captain M. M. McArthur has resumed command of the Holmglen, relieving Captain > 'ft!essrs < R. Gaston and R. Campbell are now second and third engineers respectively of the Gale, relieving Messrs J. G. Oliver and F. L. Peterson. Mr Oliver has been appointed third engineer of the Storm, relieving Mr C.
