ACROSS THE TASMAN

NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN. ROOM FOR EXTRA PETROL. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, November 9. J. D. Hewett says that in the Centenary Air Race the range of their plane was 1400 miles. They were making provision for additional petrol so that the range while flying the Tasman Sea would be at least 1600 miles. The machine would be equipped with wireless so that they would be in touch with either Australia or New Zealand all the way. They expected the overhaul to be completed on Monday. They intended to leave Richmond early in the morning, enabling a daylight landing to be made at Auckland.
