Mr and Mrs Maurice Macdonald have returned to Invercargill. Mrs A. M. Macdonald, Princes street, Enwood, left on Tuesday for Dunedin. Mr and Mrs A. C. Mills, Otautau, returned from Christchurch on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs A. Taylor, Collingwood, left on Monday on a visit to Dunedin.

Miss F. Valentine, of Dunedin, is the guest of her sister, Mrs Fell, Rugby street.

Mrs A. Campbell, Thames street, left by the express yesterday afternoon for Dunedin.

Mr and Mrs T. A. Nicholson, Herbert street, return from Christchurch on Monday. Mrs J. Dobie, Spey street, left for Otautau yesterday to be the guest of Mrs A. Gould.

Mrs T. F. Gilkison, Grey street, who has been visiting Dunedin, returns south on Monday.

Mrs F. C. Rowley, Thames street, left during the week to spend a month’s holiday at Rotorua. Mrs A. Cutt, Thames street, left yesterday to spend a holiday at Macandrew Bay, Dunedin. Mrs Alan Macalister, Duke street, returned to Invercargill from Hanmer Springs on Tuesday. Mrs A. C. Mac Ewan, Duke street, and Miss Thelma Mac Ewan leave for Stewart Island on Wednesday.

Mrs J. G. Petrie, Eamslaw street, and Mrs G. Hoffman, Dunedin, left yesterday on a visit to Queenstown. Mr and Mrs A. E. Smith, Gala street, leave shortly for Auckland, where they have taken a flat for two months. Miss B. ~.evenson, East Taieri, who has been the guest of Mrs C. E. Just, Lewis street, returns home to-day. Miss Anita Tapley, Dalrymple road, who is the guest of Mrs Angus Macdonald, “The Plains,” returns home today.

Mrs A. W. Traill, who was the guest of Mrs P. B. Macdonald, Dalrymple road, returned to Stewart Island on Wednesday. Mrs T. M. Rankin, Yarrow street, has returned from Roxburgh, where she was the guest of her daughter, Mrs R. E. Bennetts.

Miss Faye Hinchey, Gala street, returned on Wednesday from Dunedin, where she was the guest of Miss Norma Kensington, St. Clair.

Mr and Mrs George Cruickshank, of Auckland, will arrive in Invercargill on Tuesday, and will be the guests of Mr and Mrs F. C. Beere, Ness street. Mrs L. Mathieson, McQuarrie street, left yesterday for a week’s holiday in Dunedin, where she will be the guest of her cousin, Mrs Fraser, Goodall street.

Mrs F. G. Hall-Jones, “Lennel,” and her son returned on Tuesday from Hakataramea, where they were the guests of Mrs A. McCaw, Cliffside station.

Miss M. Smith and Mrs W. Fleming, who have been on a visit to the former’s brother, Mr W. Smith, Bann street, Bluff, left on Thursday on their return to Dunedin.

Mrs S. M. Macalister, Dalrymple road, returns from Napier this evening, while her mother, Mrs John McQueen, Dalrymple road, and Miss McQueen will visit Rotorua.

Mr and Mrs M. F. Woods and Miss G. Woods, Elies Road, have left for Christchurch to attend the Brown —de Laney wedding, where Miss G. Woods will be one of the bridesmaids. Mrs Ritchie Crawford, Don street, Misses Mary and Margaret Crawford, and Mrs C. E. Watts and Miss Nancy Watts, Layard street, left on Tuesday to spend a camping holiday at the Eglinton Valley.

Dr. Gladys Bremner, of Christchurch, and her two small sons, arrive here today to be the guests of Mr and Mrs James Macalister, Avenal. Mr James Macalister, who has been visiting his daughter, will accompany her. Mrs R. S. Mclnnes, District Commissioner of Girl Guides for Invercargill, leaves to-day for Hastings, where she will attend the Girl Guide Commissioners’ Conference being held there next week. She will be away ten days.

A farewell afternoon-tea was given by the Guild ladies of First Church in the Tudor Lounge on Thursday afternoon for Mrs George Curie, .who is leaving Invercargill to reside in Queenstown. About 60 ladies were present and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. Mrs A. F. Clark made the presentation of a brass log box, and voiced the opinion of the ladies present that Mrs Curie would be missed in First Church, and hoped _ that she would enjoy her retirement in Queenstown. Miss Asher presented the guest of honour with a bouquet, and made reference to Mrs Curie’s long association with the Ladies’ Guild. Mrs Curie feelingly replied. During the afternoon songs sung by Mrs E. K. Mills were much appreciated.
