ODDFELLOWSHIP. INSTALLATION MEETING OF ALMA LODGE. (From Our Correspondent.) There was a large attendance of brethren at the monthly meeting of Alma Lodge, 1.0.0. F., No. 34, which was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Brother Norman Henderson, N.G.,.was in the chair and after routine business had been transacted, which included three propositions for membership, Bro. N. McLeod, District Deputy Grand Master and suite were admitted for the purpose of installing the officers-elect for the current term, with ceremony
they carried out in a most impressive manner. Assisting the Deputy Grand Master were Bro. J. A. Craven, District Deputy Grand Marshal, Bro. A. McLeod, District Deputy Grand Secretary; Bro. J. Calder, District Deputy Grand Treasurer; Bro. E. Calder, District Deputy Grand Warden; Bro. W. Buras, District Deputy Grand Inner Guard. The following officers were installed:— 1.P.G., Bro Norman Henderson; N.G. Bro Arthur Milne, V.G. Bro R. McLellan, Secretary Bro C. Dimmock, P.G. Treasurer, Bro D. N. A. Macpherson, P.G., Conductor, Bro L King, Warden, Bro M. Milne; Chaplain, Bro J. C. Allison, P.G.; R. S. S. Bro Jno Young, P. 8.; L.S.S. Bro. W. A. Leitch, P.G., R.S. N.G., Bro W. McNair, P.G., L.S.V.G. Bro H. McKerrow, P.D.D.G.M.; S.S.V.
G., Bro A. Fenton P.G., L.S.V.G., Bro F. Brown, LG., Bro W. Heaps, P.G., 0.G., Bro. Jas. Craig. Subsequently, a happy time was spent. Bro A. Milne presided, and under his direction, a number of toasts, interpersed with items, were honoured. P.WJM.U. The monthly meeting of Wyndham branch of Presbyterian Women f s Missionary Union was held in the new Sunday school hall, when Mrs G. D. Falconer presided over a large attendance of members. Proceedings opened with praise prayer, and scripture reading, following which Mrs Currie read a letter from Mr Sinclair Hamilton, of China Inland Mission, which was very interesting. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Henderson Hunter for boiling water at
her residence during the building of the new halL An invitation was received from the Girl’s Auxiliary members to attend their closing meeting on November 19. Mrs Falconer commented on this being the first meeting in the new Sunday School Hall, and hoped the branch would be properly settled in same for next meeting. Mrs McNeur, Mataura, gave a talk entitled “A Word of Cheer,” her theme embracing the unknown heroes of the world. On the motion of Mrs Rankin, the speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her address. The meeting then closed with praise, and a social hour was spent, during which afternoon tea was dispensed. Mesdames Stark and Orlowski acting as hostesses.
