WARPLANES NEEDED
“ENGLAND IN DEADLY PERIL,”
LESSON FROM MANOEUVRES.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) London, November 4. The Daily Mail contends that the lesson from the naval manoeucres on Saturday is that had Britain been actually at war it is doubtful whether she would at present have a navy. It was shown how ridiculously easily a small number of warplanes can defeat a strong naval force. The Daily Mail cites Lord Rothermere’s contention that the day of the warship is over. A desperate deficiency in warplanes, it says, has placed England in deadly peril. The Government must immediately start building thousands.
