OTARA NOTES
THE WEATHER.
(From Our Correspondent.)
The _ weather for October, with the exception of the first week which was rather boisterous, has been very mild, with very warm days and long hours of sunshine. Several slight frosts were unwelcome, and grass pastures made very slow growth for the month. Feed in general is still shoi-t for stock and rain is now badly needed to freshen up pastures and also replenish household . tanks which are becoming very low. A very low rainfall fell for the month, being 1.42 inches, the bulk falling on the 3rd, 4th and sth with 1.17 inches, while October 1933 registered 4.74 inches. It is also interesting to note that October, usually a wet month, registered the lightest fall for any month of 1934, while the total rainfall to date is 7.43 inches lower than the same period of 1933 with 44.69 inches.
