The final evening of the Music Circle of the Women’s Club was held on Thursday evening last, when the travelogue programme recently presented at Invercargill was repeated. Noake and McDonald (Timaru). On Friday afternoon last, at the residence of Mrs D. L. Poppelwell, William street, a delightful party was held in honour of .Miss Sylvia Inder. The opportunity was taken to say farewell to Miss Rita Fleming whose marriage takes place shortly. The president, Mrs Beattie, on behaJ ot the club, presented the guest of honour with a crystal salad bowl as a token of appreciation, and wished her every happiness in the future. The final evening of the bridge circle of the Women’s Club was held on Monday of last week when there were twelve tables at play.. After supper the chairwoman of the circle, Mrs A. A. Mac Gibbon, presented the prizes for the evening’s play and for the highest aggregate scores for the season’s play. Mrs D. M. Cochrane won the aggregate for contract, and Miss Joan Oswin the concealed number prize. Mrs F. M. Murray won the aggregate for auction and Mrs W. L. Milne the concealed number prize. A lucky number prize was won by Mrs J. W. Turnbull and Mrs T. Fyfe won the ace of hearts prize. Mrs E. Patterson had the highest score for contract, and Mrs A. A. Mac Gibbon and Mrs H. R. Robertson were nearest to the concealed numbers. Mrs F. M. Murray had the highest score at auction and Miss M. Mac Gibbon won the concealed number prize. Those playing were Mesdames A. A.
