AMERICAN AMBASSADOR. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, April 10. Mr McDowell, the American Ambassador to the Irish Free State, who arrived in Dublin at the end of March, dropped dead from a heart attack while responding to the toast of his health at a State dinner at Dublin Castle in his honour. Mr McDowell suddenly faltered in his speech and dropped against the table. Mr de Valera, who was host, rushed forward to assist, but Mr McDowell was dead.
