CENTRAL SUB-ASSOCIATION.

(From Our Correspondent.) The annual report of the Central District Basketball Sub-Association states that the sub-association now consists of eleven clubs. The season commenced with sixteen teams from the following clubs: —Kia Ora, Rovers (2), Winton, High School, Limchills (2), Ryal Bush (2), Browns (2), Spar Bush, Hedgehope, Oreti and Lochiel (2). Every Wednesday during the season competition games were played, the teams being played in two sections, a senior and a junior grade. The premiership of the senior section was won by Kia Ora for the sixth time in succession with Lochiel runners-up and Limehills third. In the junior grade Browns were victorious. A senior and junior knock-out competition was held during the year, Lochiel (senior) and Browns (junior), being successful. The sub-association presented silver buttons to each member of the winning teams. During the season Western District representative teams came to Winton and played Central district. The home team ran out the winners. Invercargill also travelled to Winton and met the Central District side, the visitors proving successful. The resignation of the secretary, Miss M. Martin was received during the year, and its acceptance was deeply regretted as she had been a most capable official, being obliging and courteous in all her duties. The subassociation’s ball was held at Limehills at the conclusion of the season and proved a financial success, the subassociation benefiting by the sum of £2O 13/1. An insurance policy was taken out at the commencement of the year. Two girls benefited by this insurance. Wellington, April 10. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Referees’ Association was held to-night. A remit from the Wanganui Referees’ Association “That theory and oral examinations be held in the first two weeks in July and not in June as at present,” was rejected.
