HEALTHY POSITION

GORE BOROUGH FINANCES. SURPLUS OF £3183. A surplus of £3183 17/10 at the end of the financial year in the accounts of the Borough of Gore was reported by the Town Clerk (Mr D. Harvey) at the meeting of the Borough Council last evening. The position was regarded by councillors as being highly satisfactory. The Mayor, Mr A. T. Newman, said there were several unpaid accounts and a heavy interest bill had to be met in the first week of April. The Main street resealing contract and the traffic bridge contract had been budgeted for in last year’s expenditure, and these sums should be deducted from the credit balance. The revenue had come in better than had been expected, and this was responsible for the handsome credit balance.
