PLANE DAMAGED

TURNS UPSIDE DOWN. PILOT AND PASSENGER UNINJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Tauranga, October 25. A Moth aeroplane, piloted by E. Firth, of the Auckland Aero Club, and a passenger, A. L. Harkness, of Tekauwhata, turned over in the water on the Mount Munganui beach at Tauranga. When taking off a sharp gust of wind tipped one wing upward, the other wing touching the water and the impact turning the ’plane upside down. The men managed to scramble out. They sustained a few superficial cuts. The ’plane was damaged. Flight-Lieutenant Lett and Mr North (ground engineer) of the _ Auckland Aerc Club, have arrived to inspect the ’plane.
