THE SALARY CUT. NO IMMEDIATE RESTORATION. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter). Wellington, October 25. Civil servants need not look at present for any restoration of salary cuts. This was made quite clear by the Hon. G. W. Forbes to-day when a statement made by the Railways Board in reply to a deputation from the Railway Tradesmen’s Association was referred to him. The board told the deputation that it was prepared to restore the 10 per cent cut, but that Parliamentary sanction would have to be given. “There is no intention of restoring the cut,” said the Prime Minister. “The state of the country’s finances do not justify it at present,”
