INTERCOLONIAL TRADE
NORWEGIAN STEAMER. PURCHASE BY SYDNEY FIRM. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, August 29. The Sydney shipping firm, Messrs H. C. Sleigh, has purchased the Norwegian steamer Nord for the purpose of engaging in trade between Australia and Lew Zealand. The Nord is a vessel of 2042 tons, and is at present en route from Europe to Melbourne with a cargo of Baltic timber, and on completion of discharge in Australia she will be transferred to the inter-colonial cargo service. The Nord, which will be renamed the Abel Tasman, was formerly known as the Mont Blanc and was built at Ambacht, Holland, in 1916.
