POLICE COURT

THREE CHARGES OF THEFT. In the Police Court yesterday morning before Mr E. C. Lewey, S.M., Melville Albert White, aged 21, was charged that on May 26, at Kennington, he did steal one motor car tyre, one rim and one tube of a total value of £3, the property of Charles Thomas Grant. On the application of Detective-Ser-geant Hewitt the accused was remanded to appear on September 1. Mr Gordon Reed, who appeared for the accused, requested that bail be granted, the Magistrate consenting and fixing the amount at £5O in his own recognizance and one surety of £5O. Similarly charged, Walter Rangiwai Ashwell, aged 20, was remanded to appear on September 1, the conditions of bail being fixed as in the previous case. George Alfred Templer, aged 19, and Melville Albert White were charged that on August 4, 1933, at Kennington, they did steal one motor tyre, one rim and one tube, of a total value of £2 10/-; the property of Charles Thomas Grant. On the application of DetectiveSergeant Hewitt the accused were remanded to appear on the morning of September 1, bail being allowed in their own recognizance of £5O and one surety of £5O.
