HEDGEHOPE NOTES

(From Our Correspondent) A social evening was held in the hall at Hedgehope to farewell Mr and Mrs F. Fleming who are leaving the district and going to Morton Mains. The first portion of the evening was in the nature of a concert, songs being given by Miss F. Horton, Miss D. Leebody, Miss J. South, recitations by Mrs Buckland, nigger dialogue, Masters Lion, Scotch song by N. Mclntyre. One competition was won by Mr F. Fraser and the other by Miss Irene Kania. After the concert Mr J. Sanderson, chairman, called on Mr W. South to say a few words and he spoke of the qualities of the guests as neighbours. Mr Lion was the next speaker and touched upon the loss to the district of one who took a very keen interest in the affairs of the district. He wished them Godspeed and success in their new home. Mr T. Hanning also eulogised the guests and said how much they would be missed. The chairman then asked Mrs Fleming to accept an envelope of notes as a token of the esteem in which they were held. Mr F. Fleming made a suitable reply. After supper a dance was held. Hedgehope—Mabel Spring Show. Winners of the trophies at the above show wereTe Aro Seed, Mrs H. Leebody; Thomas, Mrs E.
