NO FINALITY

REORGANIZATION OF DEPARTMENTS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 11. No finality has been reached by Cabinet in regard to the National Expenditure Commission’s recommendations for the reorganization of the Lands Department and Public Works Department so comprehensive and far-reach-ing are the proposals. The Government has taken steps to secure departmental reports and other expressions of opinion on the practicability of the proposals and it is said to be unlikely that legislation affecting either departments will be promoted this session.

Asked whether any action would be taken in regard to the proposals affecting the hospital system, the Hon. G. W. Forbes said the recommendations would be considered by a commission which would be set up after the session to investigate local body finance and reorganization.
