The tombstone of an unknown marine who died some 150 years ago was unveiled at Saltash, Cornwall, recently. The only evidence of this “unknown warrior’s” identity was the discovery with his bones of buttons identified as those of the uniforms of the Royal Marines of 150 years ago. For 150 years the skeleton had lain in a mudbank of the River Tamar until it was at last exposed by the action of the tide?:
