SHEARERS AT GISBORNE. OFFER OF 17/6 TURNED DOWN. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, October 11. Shearers who had assembled at a property at Puha and had prepared for an early start changed their minds overnight and moved off the station without touching a sheep. The men turned down an offer of 17/6 per 100 and asked for 21/-. On several other properties work has been completed at the 17/6 rate.
