BLUFF NOTES

FOOTBALL DANCE. (From Our Correspondent.) The weather at Bluff continues to be a source of satisfaction to local people, day after day of sunshine being enjoyed. Even the oldest residents cannot remember a spring to compare with the present. Gardens are coming on splendidly, though another fall of rain would still further stimulate growth. On Monday night the annual dance of the Bluff Football Club took place In the Town Hall. lucre was a satisfactory attendance and the function proved very enjoyable, proceedings going with a swing from start to finish. Mr F. W. McDonald filled the role of M.C., while music was provided by the Milyon-Airs'Orchestra. The euchre tournamer* played in conjunction with the dance attracted a large entry of card enthusiasts. Play was supervised by Messrs L. Mortimer, T. Finnerty and W. Gilson. Before presenting the euchre prizes the Mayor of Bluff (Mr T. F. Doyle) thanked the public for their patronage. The object of the dance was to raise funds to meet existing liabilities, his Worship said, and it was pleasing to see townspeople supporting the club in the effort. The club was very grateful to the Bluff ladies for their valuable assistance in providing the supper free and doing other necessary work in connection with the same, thus helping largely to keep down expenditure. Mr Doyle then congratulated the winners in the card tournament and presented the prizes. Winners were: Ladies, Mrs E. D. Campbell 1, Mrs R. Kirkwood 2, Mrs W. Gilson 3, Mrs Barton 4, Mrs L. Mortimer 5, Mrs A. Lee 6; men, Mr W. Butler 1, Mr G. Burton 2, Mr H H. Moss 3, Mr H. Newton 4, Mr C. Phillipso: 5, Mr F. Te loeti 6. Among the dancing prizes the trophy for first couple on the floor was awarded to Mr S. Harland and Miss L. Barton. The spot waltz competition was won by L. Crawford and Mins C. Aitken, and the Monte Carlo by Mr F. I Giles and Miss C. Fowler.
