MOKOTUA NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) There was a good attendance at the Oteramika School on Saturday evening when the last of the fortnightly dances in aid of the school funds was held. The secretary (Mr C. D. Mincher) expressed the thanks of the committee to all who had attended and helped to make the functions the success they undoubtedly were, especially mentioning the good services rendered by the musicians. A lucky spot waltz was won by Mr H Burgess and partner. Mr E. Summers, a local cycle racer, again put up a good performance in the final race of the Avon Cup series on Saturday last. He secured fourth place, and was beaten for fastest time by only a fraction of a second. Through a typographical error in Saturday’s issue it was stated that the eyesight of Mr James Milne, jun., was impaired as the result of an accident. This should have read “not impaired.” It is pleasing to note that he has now made a good recovery.
