GREENGROCER’S TITLE

NIECE OF A DUCHESS. Every morning at four o'clock among the buyers at Covent Garden, London, there is the Hon. Slavia Forbes, daughter of Lady Angela Sinclair Erskine, niece of Millicent Duchess of Sutherland and niece of Lord Rosslyn. The Hon. Slavia Forbes runs a greengrocery shop in a quiet little street off Belgravia, and though she finds the work hard she gets great pleasure out of it.

“I have learned the business thoroughly,” she said recently, "for I worked for a year as assistant at another green-grocery store in North West London.

“I do all my buying for my shop myself, and have come to know quite well many of the fruit and vegetable salesmen. Mr Jock Currie, a retired naval officer, delivers the orders to our customers. He is my partner.”
