DEADLOCK OVER BRADMAN.

PLAYER-WRITER RULE.

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Melbourne, October 10.

It would appear that so far as the Board of Control is concerned there will be no further move to end the deadlock which has been reached regarding Don Bradman playing in the tests. Interviewed, a member of the board stated that the board could do nothing more in the matter concerning Bradman, and if Bradman wanted to play all he had to do was to comply with the resolution regarding player-writers. ENGLISH TEAM PRACTICE MATCH AT COLOMBO. Colombo, October 8. The English cricketers were welcomed by Captain Skinner, representing the Governor of Ceylon, and officials of the Colombo Association. Ten thousand watched the team practising against a local combination which made a record score against the Englishmen of 79 for the first wicket. The game closed at the lunch hour with the score at three wickets for 125 runs (Brindley not out 82). Bowling analysis: Allen one for 48, Brown one for 22, Mitchell one for 31. The wicket was soft.
