STRONG COMPETITION. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.0 p.m.) Sydney, October 10. At the wool sales 11,638 bales were offered and 10,710 sold, 232 being disposed of privately. There was strong competition from Japan, the Continent and Yorkshire. The market was firm, though some faulty lots were irregular, especially if lacking fineness. Greasy Merino sold to 16Jd. The average price of the wool last week was £ll 17/9 a bale or 9.02 d a pound.
