MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SITTING AT GORE. At a sitting of the Gore Magistrate’s Court yesterday Mr H. J. Dixon S.M. presided. Undefended Cases. Judgment by default was given for plaintiffs in the following undefended civil claims:— Beattie Coster and Co. Ltd., v. M. Dobbie (Athol) for £2 9/6, with costs £1 10/6; N.Z. Expres Co. Ltd. v. J. M. Giles (Oamaru) for £3 3/9, with costs £1 3/6; Timothy Cronin v. Rugby McDougall (Gore) for £7 10/-, with costs £1 10/6. Judgment Summons Claims. The Trade Auxiliary Co. Ltd., proceeded against Robert Shields, Gore, on a judgment summons claim for £8 3/-. The judgment debtor pleaded inability to pay and stated that he was a married man with eleven children, two of whom were working. His earnings amounted to about £1 per week. The Magistrate did not make an order. Mary E. Wilkins proceeded against Hector Day on a judgment summons claim for £ll 1/9. Debtor, who did not appear, was ordered to pay the amount due and solicitor’s fee, £1 1/-, forthwith in default 12 days imprisonment at Invercargill. Warden’s Courts. Sittings of the Waikaia and Gore Warden’s Courts were held at Gore yesterday, the District Warden, Mr H. J. Dixon S.M. presiding. Two applications by King Solomon Deep Lead Ltd., for special alluvial claims were granted subject to the conditions agreed upon. Applications by the Nokomai Gold Mining Co. for a water race and dam were granted. S. M. Favel applied for an extended alluvial claim on Section 19, block 14, Chatton District. The application was recommended for the consent of the Minister.
