SUDDEN DEATH
GORE FATALITY. MR THOMAS CRAWFORD. The sudden death occurred at East Gore yesterdav morning of a wellknown and highly respected resident in the person of Mr Thomas Crawford. It appears that Mr Crawford had just left his residence in Lawrence street with the intention of driving by gig to Chatton and when passing Mr John Day’s property the horse stumbled on the bitumen, Mr Crawford being thrown on to the road. Some men, who were on a motor lorry a short distance away saw Mr Cranford fall and went to his assistance. Dr Rogers was summoned, but ar examination showed life to be extinct. For some time past he had been under medical treatment iter heart trouble. The late Mr Crawford was bom at Toiro and was the second son of the late Mr John Crawford of that district. Some 44 years ago he went to reside in the Waikaka Valley district when he followed his occupation as a carpenter and builder. For a number oi years he was steadily employed in bridge building and was known as a competent tradesman. He married the widow of the late Mr Adam Johnston, of Waikaka Valley, and about 20 years ago came to Gore to reside. He leaves one married daughter, Mrs Eric Wallace and five brothers and five married sisters to mourn their loss. The brothers are Messrs John (Riverton), William (Invercargill), Robert (Dunedin), George (Hawera) and Charles (Oamaru).
