BANKS ROBBED

DUPLICATE KEYS USED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Brisbane, June 14. Burglars entered the Cloncurry branches of the Queensland National Bank and the Bank of New South Wales during the week-end and stole £14,299 in bank notes, £10,162 being taken from the first named. Duplicate keys were used on the safes in both instances. MANAGERS AWAY AT WEEK-END. (Rec. 8.10 p.m.) Brisbane, June 14. Additional details of the bank robberies at Cloncurry reveal that the managers of both branches were away for the week-end, though the custom is to sleep on the premises. The duplicate keys were obtained from secret hiding places. The burglars cut the telegraph wires, and it is believed that they escaped in a car or an aeroplane.
