LABOUR SUCCESS
THE QUEENSLAND ELECTION. NEW PREMIER’S PROBLEM. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) Brisbane, June 14. The Treasurer, Mr Barnes, commenting on the result of the election in Queensland, said the new Labour Premier, whose promises on the platform had swayed a large body of voters, would soon be brought face to face with the necessity for adhering to the Premiers’ Plan. It would be impossible for him to raise loan money without the assistance of the Loan Council, and the only alternative was increased taxation when the realities of the situation presented themselves. POSITION UNCHANGED. (Rec. 11.50 p.m.) Brisbane, June 14. Additional returns arriving to-day made no difference to the state of the parties, but it is expected that Labour will have a majority of four in the new Parliament.
