BALFOUR NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) The third of the series of euchre evenings being conducted by the local Ladies’ Hockey Club was held on Friday and proved quite as successful as previous functions. The winners were Mrs P. J. Mulqueen, who secured ten games out of twelve, and Mr V. Cross, who won from Mr S. Perwick after a Ait-off. The consolation prizes went to Mrs Henderson and Mr K. Greer The result of the next evening’s play will decide the winners of the prizes for the best aggregate scores. Playing at Balfour on Saturday afternoon the Riversdale A hockey team defeated the home eleven by one goal to nil. In spite of the heavy ground and a drizzle which fell during most of the game, a fast exhibition of hockey was given, and the local ladies showed improved form. They will be hard to beat in the second round. Mr Iggo refereed the game.
