MATAURA NEWS
(From Our Correspondent.)
The Mataura School Dental Committee met for its bi-monthly meeting in the school on Tuesday evening last, Mr W. Buchanan presiding. There were also present : Miss Speden and Messrs J. Brewster, D. Russell and E. H. Reward (secretary), Nurse Rodger presented a detailed report of her work since the commencement of the clinic and satisfaction was expressed by those present on the manner she had carried out her duties. The Department of Health advised that as the work for the time being had been completed there was now no necessity for the nurse’s constant attendance locally so that accordingly she had been temporarily transferred to assist at Gore, but it was hoped that in about two months time she might resume at Mataura for the work of re-inspection. The latter communication was left in the hands of the chairman to confer with Nurse Rodger regarding the dates when she would be available. A detailed statement of receipts and expenditure up till March 22 was presented by the secretary and adopted by the committee.
The chairman stated that as this would be the secretary’s last meeting prior to his departure for Green Island he desired to extend to him the thanks of the committee and parents for the very live interest he had taken with respect to the clinic work and hoped that he would have great success in his new sphere. Mr Reward said he was very grateful for the chairman’s remarks and stated that he had been keenly interested in the satisfactory. functioning of the clinic since its inception.
