ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
INJURIES PROVE FATAL. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, March 23. As a result of injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor cycle in Queen street last night, F. Wheelhouse, aged 21, died in hospital this morning. Wheelhouse was a married man, living in Newmarket. He was a clerk employed by L. D. Nathan, Ltd. He was knocked down by a cycle near Fort street as he was about to cross the street. Immediately after the accident he was taken to a pharmacy near the scene of the accident and treated for shock. He rested for a while and then said he thought he was well enough to go home. He did so and said he would follow the advice given and go straight to bed. About 7 o'clock, however, Dr Vivian was called and he ordered the injured man to the hospital. He was admitted at 1.50 a.m. in a semi-conscious condition. BODY FOUND IN HILLS. Thames, March 23. The body of an elderly man, John Isbister, was found in the hills back of Tararu, practically incinerated. It is thought he was caught in a scrub fire when searching for kauri gum. An inquest was held this afternoon and adjourned.
