WAIANIWA NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) The weather has been very’ changeable this last .month and the farmers would appreciate a prolonged‘spell of fine weather, so as to get on with the harvesting operations, which are now being carried out in full swing throughout the district. Some very fine crops of oats are to be seen, but one worthy of special mention is on the property of Mr E. A. Scott. It is a picture to look at. The root crops have made rapid progress during the past few weeks, and there should be no scarcity of winter feed for the stock now. A large attendance of ex-pupils assembled at the local school on Tuesday evening last to discuss and make arrangements for the forthcoming jubilee which is to be held sometime early next year. The chairman, Mr W. Grieve (Invercargill) read over various reports of the progress being made by the executive committee. Most of the evening was taken up in securing the addresses of some of the ex-pupils. During the evening those present had the pleasure of listening to an article written by r Mr J. P. Wilson (one of the early' pupils) relating his school day experiences. It caused much merriment, especially to the young people present. The suppliers to the Waianiwa dairy factory will be pleased to learn that the directors have sold the remainder of the season’s output of cheese at sixpence.
